As we present our Annual Report for 2023 / 2024, it’s essential for us to highlight both the challenges we’ve faced this year and the steps we have taken to position ourselves for future success. Our commitment to leading Community Vision in providing quality services in aged care, Veterans support, disability support, nursing services and family day care will remain our core focus.
Ongoing Aged Care Reforms and Challenges
This year has been particularly challenging due to ongoing reforms in the aged care sector, accompanied by delays, and the continued absence of a set pricing structure to allow us to plan effectively for the future. The Aged Care Taskforce report recommended the Government fully fund the sector as well as other structural reforms, however, we are still pending full details and implementation. This does leave us in a state of uncertainty, so we plan as best we can while making sure we are part of the consultation, discussions and information sessions with the Department of Health and Aged Care.
The introduction of new aged care legislation with a human rights-based approach holds real promise, and we are eager for the Senate review to pave the way for necessary improvements and full implementation so we can continue to focus on services for you, our customers.
NDIS continues to reform with services list details, along with the processes through which we can deliver services being updated regularly.
The Fair Work Commission’s decision to increase wages for our incredible support workers is a critical step forward; however, the lack of a corresponding increase in government subsidies presents ongoing financial challenges as we strive to manage rising costs while maintaining the quality of care our customers deserve. Until the IHACPA announce pricing, then uncertainty will continue.
Enhancing Our Communication and Operational Efficiency
This year, we also undertook a significant initiative to replace all our telephony and back office technology to help resolve frustrating communication issues and enhance our operational efficiency. We are pleased to report that this transition has largely been successful, and we anticipate further improvements over the coming year. This upgrade is foundational as we prepare for the future in the reformed aged care and disability sectors, ensuring that our staff can communicate effectively and deliver the services seamlessly that you, our customers, want.
Looking Ahead
As we move into the next year, we remain dedicated to advocating for the necessary reforms and funding to continue with and improve our services and operational sustainability. By investing in technology and prioritising quality care, we are positioning ourselves to successfully navigate future challenges.
We extend our deepest gratitude to you, our customers, our remarkable staff, volunteers, partners, and the communities we serve. Your commitment fuels our purpose, and together we will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
Thank you for your continued support.
